Tracking variants worldwide is an important process to end the pandemic. And this briefly examines how this is achieved by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Working with governments and many organizations worldwide, WHO attempts to identify and track new strains as they emerge. This is an important step in mitigating the spread of the virus.

However, on the ground this is an evolving and ongoing process.
