The BA.5 subvariant is Rapidly Spreading

Vermilion Red block emergency

This is a red alert for the Covid-19 BA.5 subvariant, which is now rapidly spreading in the United States. And it poses a serious public health risk.

In part, the BA.5 subvariant appears to spread easier than previous Covid-19 strains.

Data show that the subvariant currently makes up 60% – 80% of all new cases. And it is in fact a new subvariant of the Omicron strain that took hold the end of last year. More, we issued a red alert regarding it in November, 2021.

Alarmingly, BA.5 is seemingly resistant to prior vaccinations and exposure. However, evidence supports that vaccines curb its impact.

Thus, even if vaccinated, wearing a mask in certain circumstances is necessary for some individuals.

Today, COVID-19 is a vaccine-preventable disease. Vaccines are safe. And they are effective. More, even though there are reported “breakthrough cases”, they substantially reduce symptoms.

How to get Vaccinated

There are many options. And many drug stores, Walmart and others provide it. And at no cost. Here are some methods:

Walk right in!

Today, many stores and clinics offer walk-in service. And an appointment is not necessary.  Thus, you can walk in. And get the shot.
