This is a reminder if had COVID-19; you still need to get vaccinated. Here is why.
We originally posted this story a month ago. But it is an important health message.
First, it is unclear how long immunity lasts. We wrote a number of articles documenting reinfection. And that is because there are new strains. More, viruses mutate over time. Thus, the strains of COVID-19 that are now being spread are different from the strains from a year ago.
So even if you had the virus, you could potentially get it again.
Second, it protects others. Early evidence shows vaccinated individuals are less likely to spread the virus to others. And children and others are not yet eligible to receive the vaccine.
Third, you get peace of mind. Return to your normal routine more confident.
Vaccines are key. And data clearly show they work. Please get the shot. And also encourage others, too.
Here is a short video that explains this:
How to Receive It
There are many options. And many drug stores, Walmart and others provide the vaccine at no cost. Here are some methods to get vaccinated:
Walk Right In!
Today, many stores and clinics offer walk-in service. And an appointment is not necessary.
Schedule by Phone
Call a clinic directly that you visit regularly. Also, a scheduling hotline has been established. The phone number is 800-232-0233. And it covers all 50 states.
Schedule Online
Another alternative is to schedule online via a nationally linked portal. It is found at Vaccines.gov.
Here is our Guide on what to do before, during and after receiving the vaccine. Prevention is key.
