Protect Yourself, Protect Others

Covid-19 Illness between doses

Protect yourself. And protect others. In fact, vaccines and followup booster shots are a powerful tool to achieve this.

Regularly, we discuss that with the passage of time, that viruses mutate. And this creates new strains.

New strains are different. In some cases, they appear to spread easier. And with others, vaccines and other control measures may be less effective.

Today, the Omicron variant is the dominant strain causing infection.

While the vaccines provide protection, they were not formulated with the variant in mind. Thus, in September, new booster shots were made available that are reformulated to include this variant, also.

One step we can all take to reduce the spread and impact of new variants is to stay current on all vaccines and boosters. Covid is a vaccine-preventable disease. Vaccines are safe. And they are effective. More, even though there are “breakthrough cases”, they help to reduce serious illness.

Keeping current on booster shots and vaccines also protects others. And it is important to remember that some individuals cannot be vaccinated. Additionally, other individuals may be immunocompromised. Thus, we can all help to protect these individuals and everyone else by staying current.

Everyone 5 and older can now receive a booster shot that have been reformulated to target Omicron sub-variants. And they are available nationwide.
