The coronavirus (COVID-19) is known to cause chronic complications for some. And they experience symptoms long after the virus is gone. It is a growing problem.
Medicine has a term for this. And it is “morbidity”. More, some estimates place chronic symptoms as high as one in three COVID-19 patients. Also, the infection impacts existing conditions such as heart disease.
The news media is reporting on this. This risk is key. And one method to communicate this is through personal experience.
Recently one of those stories was shared by Dr. Richard Quest, a known CNN contributor. He is having a long recovery.
He wrote about the lingering effects. Noting, “the cough has come back, without warning, and seemingly for no reason; so has the fatigue.”
Personal stories, such as Quest’s, really help to convey a message. It serves as both a warning and reminder of the virus.
More research is needed.
There are several key steps to take to reduce the spread of the virus. They are social distancing, wearing a mask, hand washing and to avoid touching of the face.
Wear a mask. Wearing a mask will protect us from the virus. It also protect others if we have the virus. Masks also send a powerful message: they tell everyone this is important. Please see our key tools and guides.
