Understanding the Covid-19 Omicron BA.5 Sub-variant

Covid-19 variant virus

Understanding the Covid-19 sub-variants can be confusing. This video provides an overview of the latest sub-variant causing disease, which is known as the Omicron BA.5 sub-variant.

And it is being reported that even those that are fully vaccinated or have recovered from an earlier Covid infection, are being infected with BA.5. However, reporting shows that vaccinations reduce the impact of the virus.

To provide more insight, the World Health Organization (WHO) has produced a short video on it. And it is part of their regular series on Covid known as Science in 5.

In part, the video examines: What do we know about Omicron sub-variants? Are they easier to transmit than other strains of the virus? Do they cause more severe disease? How is the risk of infection being perceived by the experts and the public?

Today, COVID-19 is a vaccine-preventable disease. Vaccines are safe. And they are effective. More, even though there are reported “breakthrough cases” (including the BA.5 sub-variant), they substantially reduce symptoms.

How to get Vaccinated

There are many options. And many drug stores, Walmart and others provide it. And at no cost. Here are some methods:

Walk right in!
