Point of Purchase remains important for Health Messages

Point of purchase

The point of purchase remains important to promote and encourage vaccinations and to spread important health messages.

On June 30, we proposed methods for stores that provide vaccinations to directly engage the public. And that is happening today. In fact, retailers such as Walmart are doing that. More, they are also offering seasonal flu shots, too.

The point of purchase is often studied in the fields of communication and marketing.

Technically, the point of purchase is after a customer has completed their shopping, but has not paid for purchases. Often stores strategically place merchandise to take advantage of this moment.

In fact, we are all familiar with the iconic merchandise placed near the register. Often it is candy and small snacks and magazines. But it may include hand sanitizer and other merchandise, too.

Most national drug stores, some grocery stores and Walmart offer the COVID-19 vaccine. More, many now offer walk in service with no appointment necessary. And as we reported, this is an amazing service!

So why not take it step more? And let customers know: it is available, there is no wait and there is no charge.

We believe that point of purchase engagement will increase vaccinations. And there are data that supports this.
