Breakthrough Covid and Health Messages

Health messages

Here, we look at breakthrough COVID. And the key role of health messages.

This article builds on an article on the delta variant published on July 25.  And it underscores the importance of consistent health messages in combatting the delta variant.

Vaccinations is key in the fight. But they alone will not stop it. And it takes consistent, practical messages, too.

With all vaccinations, “breakthrough” cases occur. That is, infection still occurs. And that is occurring with COVID-19, too. But in most instances, the symptoms are mild. Moreover, hospitalizations and serious illness are rare.

Therefore, even in these rare cases, the vaccines are working. But regardless how someone contracts the virus, messages must remain uniform.

Thus, if someone gets sick from the virus — whether fully vaccinated or not — they should follow the same precautions. And the policy should be uniform. More, stopping the spread is key.

There are several basic reasons for this. If someone is sick, they can spread the virus to others. And many still are not vaccinated.

More, it is much easier to communicate a single message.

CNN recently interviewed an expert on what should be done in breakthrough cases. And a simple way to summarize it to follow the key steps that existed even before a vaccine became available.

Breakthrough cases are occurring. That is expected. But messaging needs to be consistent.
