Promote Vaccines at Point of Purchase

Point of purchase

This article promotes the use of the point of purchase as a method to promote and encourage vaccinations.

The point of purchase is often studied in the fields of communication and marketing. Here, we adopt it for communicating health messages.

Technically, the point of purchase is after a customer has completed their shopping. And they are waiting to pay for their merchandise. Often merchandise is strategically placed near the register to take advantage of this moment.

In fact, we are all familiar with the iconic merchandise placed near the register. Often it is candy and small snacks and magazines. But it may include hand sanitizer and other merchandise, too.

Most national drug stores, some grocery stores and Walmart offer the COVID-19 vaccine. More, many now offer walk in service with no appointment necessary. And as we reported, this is an amazing service!

So why not take it step more? And let customers know: it is available, there is no wait and there is no charge.

We believe this technique will increase vaccinations. And there is data that supports this.

Vaccines are key to ending the pandemic. Please get vaccinated as soon as possible. And encourage others to receive it, too. More, offer to provide transportation for those in need.

You can schedule it directly with a clinic. Or you can schedule by phone by calling  800-232-0233. And you can also schedule online at vaccines.gov
